Is it worth it?

One of my blog chums observed that there are so few people reading blogs lately and doing more "upbeat" things such as Facebook. She wondered if it was worth continuing to do her blog. I wonder that myself sometimes, but this is what I said to her.

I like reading what you say and I think you should continue, but I know what you mean. I feel the same way a lot of the time. I have accounts on Yuwie (for my affliate stuff) and My Yearbook (for farting around playing games and doing quizzes) and it's SO superficial! I think we need to keep doing this for those of us who need something that's more than superficial, if nothing else just so we don't feel quite so alone.
Personally, I have 80-some "friends" on Yuwie and about 30 on My Yearbook and it doesn't mean jack shit. These people don't know squat about me, nor do they care to. It's a popularity contest. I'd rather have people interested in communicating with me because they like my sense of humor or the way I write or they can relate to my mental problems or something. What I especially love on My Yearbook are these silly girls who send videos of themselves dancing around half naked or links saying things like "check out my HAWT pix" without bothering to see who they're sending it to. I guess they're better off if it's going to a straight middle-aged woman who's just going to delete it than to some perv who's going to stalk them, but the point is, they don't know, and there are a lot of pervs out there. I'm scratching my head on this one. Desparation is a sad thing.
