Tim Linden Blog and Traffic Exchanges

http://TwitPWR.com/…indenblog/ Tim Linden is the owner of Start Xchange. If you use traffic exchanges, he certainly has the expertise to share.

Personally I'm a bit discouraged on the whole affiliate marketing thing right now so I haven't been using traffic exchanges. They aren't good for promoting things like fiction, although I will probably come back to using them for promoting the activist stuff.

Caregiving Article

http://TwitPWR.com/…ngarticle/

I assure you that if my mother ever saw this article, she would want to hunt down the author and strangle them. She has been caring for my increasingly handicapped father for four and a half years, ever since he had his first stroke in June of 2004. With the stress levels from caring for a severly handicapped person (not in the capacity of an assistant, but as a family member who has devoted themselves to such a cause) I don't see how it could be as beneficial as the authors describe.

All right that's enough excitement here at the Gerri Atrik Retirement Community. I'd be fine with napping through the rest of my shift!

Truth is, I feel really worn down. I wish I could take a couple weeks off from work. But that would involve having extra $ to live on.

My like-dislike relationship with entre card continues. (Love and hate are too strong of words to describe my feelings in this case.)

Responsibility or Nanny Culture

While I agree with removing junk food and soda from any vending machines available to students in K-12 schools, banning bake sales seems to be taking things a bit too far into the territory of Nanny Culture, in my opinion.

A Necessary Sacrifice

Two things prompted a decision that's been needing to come for a while. The first and more constructive one is advice that one person was giving another, but it actually had "me" written all over it. The advice was

"you should take a look at the absurd list of tasks you have created for yourself."

I did, and my list is indeed absurd. People with bipolar disorder have a tendency to do this kind of thing to themselves. We throw ourselves headlong into anything that seems like a good idea at the time without really thinking it through and then hate ourselves for failing.

My list includes working on my second book, tending to an official website and blogs and such to promote the first book, being the administrator for a new social network and Twitter-style microblog service for creative, esoteric, open-minded types, working a full time job, and going to school part time. The affiliate marketing was supposed to be a way to make extra money and for a while it was kind of fun even though the extra dough did not exactly roll in, but it's been more burden than fun for several months now.

The second factor that pushed the decision was actually a comment made by an anonymous LOSER on the Kill My Job blog at http://twitpwr.com/affiliate about how much my blog sucks. I happen to know this individual is a loser because of their cowardly hit-and-run anonymous comment and the fact that if they weren't a loser, they'd be too busy with their own life to be leaving cowardly hit and run comments. My response was admissibly juvenile as hell, and yet I must say, funny. It began with "By Satan's balls." Nuff said.

Not that I am kowtowing to anonymous Loser. Frankly, I could give a rat's butt if people think KMJ or any of my blogs/websites/projects suck. But the fact is, I don't have time to work on that blog. I'll continue to keep it as a repository for certain of my utters, but I'm not going to devote any time to it beyond that at this point. As of today, it is officially retired or on permanent vacation.

I will continue to promote certain of the affiliate products I discovered that I really like, such as the Ultimate Recipe Collection (http://TwitPWR.com/…aterecipe/) through utters and Twitter, but am no longer going to make a concerted effort in the affiliate marketing field. What I've been doing is more than a touch too much. I need to concentrate on my literary and activist efforts, spreading the word about religious tolerance and better mental health care worldwide.

So if there's a lesson that I'd like to impart from this it's the old "to thine own self be true." If you're doing too many things, evaluate what really has meaning for you and then throw yourself into that wholeheartedly.

Thanks for "listening." Peace to you.

What is this "sleep" stuff you speak of?

I used to work for a group called Whattheflip Inventory Service. Ok, it really wasn't Whattheflip, but it did start with W. Thus, the initials were WIS. We employees joked that this stood for "what is sleep?" I haven't worked for this organization in eleven years, but I still find myself asking this same question all the time!

Dungeons and Bagels

http://TwitPWR.com/…treasures/ Time for a few rounds with my favorite game, #Dungeons and #Treasures, before I brave the cold (10 degrees fahrenheit) to go get some bagels. No fear about my son having gained the #Freshman 15--the food in the canteen where he goes to school is tolerable at best on a good day. To quote my son: "#Taco #Bell is good food compared to their food." In fact he looked like he lost weight. Not like he needed to--at last check he was 6'1" and 145 pounds. Now he'll be able to eat some good food for a while. I'll admit to spoiling him a bit. I always enjoy his company when he's home.

Son Home for Holidays

http://TwitPWR.com/personal/

My son is home until January 11. Some of you know about the difficulties he had earlier in the semester that put him behind (he was hospitalized for a week) there is good reason why I think Fort Lewis College is a great school. So he wouldn't end up on academic probation for a situation that wasn't his fault, his counselor advised him to withdraw from his classes and take them again next semester. Yeah, this puts him on the 5 year plan but gives him a real good fresh start. And it shows that Fort Lewis is a place that really is about their students succeeding, not just about taking their money. If you're young and wondering what college you should go to, put Fort Lewis on your list of must check out's. http://www.fortlewis.edu/

If you can spare positive wishes

Please send some to my brother. I know you don't know him of course but he will have to have back surgery this coming April. He is one of the Real Heroes, working as a firefighter and a paramedic and a SWAT medic. He injured his back when he came down off the fire engine and slipped. Right now he's getting cortisone shots to relieve the pain. Just wish I could do something more to help.

Follow Me!

The microblogs Twitter and Utterli are not only tools for keeping in touch with online friends, they are promotional tools. Some of you may already be using these.
For those who are new to microblogging or who haven't heard of the less well-known Utterli, you can post short messages, including links using these services. The easiest way is to sign up for both and then post your messages in Utterli and have it cross-post to Twitter so you don't have to type the same thing twice, as Utterli has this ability. You can also cross-post to Blogger, Flickr, You Tube, and I believe Word Pad or Type Pad and Live Journal, and you can link Utterli to your Facebook profile.
If you market any kind of product or service we can help each other by following each other on Twitter and Utterli as well. Or we can just have fun. I use my pen name (Lily Strange) rather than my affiliate marketing name (Jobkiller) as I initially started using these services to promote my book. I'm good with having a ton of blogs but having a ton of microblog profiles too would only drive me over the edge of insanity for certain!
My Twitter profile is http://twitter.com/lilystrange and my Utterli profile is http://www.utterli.com/lilystrange
My Facebook profile is http://www.facebook.com/people/Lily-Strange/1653291128
If you'd like to follow each other on these services, go ahead and leave a comment with your Twitter and Utterli profile links and I'll follow you!

Anti Viral medications

This is a reply I posted in response to a post by the Lazy Iguana. I decided to duplicate it here, because unlike my previous post, this is news you can use!
Unless there is a really heinous potentially deadly even to normally healthy people strain of the flu going around, I do not get the flu shot. All this annoying medical training has taught me one thing: the new anti-viral medications are very safe and very effective. The one caveat is that you have to take them as soon as you realize you're really sick. Not just the coughing-stuffy head-sore throat-minor upper chest congestion kind of sick. The kind where you have a cough that feels like you're going to hack up one of your lungs, which will probably feel like you inhaled water. Also there is usually fever and muscle ache with the flu. There isn't a stuffy nose. There might be a sore throat, but it's usually from coughing. At any rate, get ye to the doctor and ask for an antiviral. It won't destroy the viruses that are already in your system but will stop them from replicating so you will get well faster. Rather expensive stuff but very effective. One of the few medications to come along where I've said "this stuff really rules!"

WTF Did U Say???

That being said, here's an article about that very thing.

Great Tunes Cheap! For Real!

Find everything from the latest to obscure stuff that you've been searching for. MP3SALE is the site that has it! Download a whole album worth of tunes for about a buck in many cases. Less expensive than many of the bigger sites and completely legal. Rip CD's for your friends and family. Create mixes they'll love for a one-of-a-kind, low-cost gift that both you and they will appreciate in these tough economic times.

NO spyware or adware. I just got my information back from the last hard drive crash. I wouldn't expose my computer to something that wasn't on the up-and-up. This site rocks!

A knight, a Sand Man and a Sand Lugdul declare a truce to celebrate the Yule together

December is a great time to join the beta-test adventure game Dungeons and Treasures. They have plenty of chances to win bonus gold, including their very cool Christmas Coundown calendar.
