While I agree with removing junk food and soda from any vending machines available to students in K-12 schools, banning bake sales seems to be taking things a bit too far into the territory of Nanny Culture, in my opinion.

No disagreement from me.
I tend to agree with rules where the health of other people might be affected by one's own bad choices, such as not allowing smoking in grocery stores or theatres, but to forbid people from smoking in their own car or house should they choose is out of line. The food issue is pretty ridiculous in many ways. When we eat a big calorie laden double cheeseburger, we KNOW it's bad for us, but we can choose to do so anyway.
It's not like schools have bake sales every day anyhow. It's a simple way to raise money for school programs. Most people are able to participate, either by making something or buying something. It's a win-win situation.
Banning bake sales is definitely way too Nanny Culture if you ask me.
