Gifts

I like giving people gifts, but the standard holiday season is not when I can best afford to do so. It's usually in March. So when you're least expecting it...expect it! And it will be something truly unexpected. And heartfelt even!
I recently sent summer sausage and cheese spreads to my former in-laws (no, not because I hate them, they like that kind of thing!) and to my brother and his wife. My brother loves to eat and his wife is so picky that I really don't know what to get her, so hopefully she appreciates the gesture. The woman had a really messed up childhood so I can't blame her for being a bit quirky. But being around her is like walking on eggshells. You never know if you're going to accidentally offend her because she's so sensitive. My parents will also get a foodie gift because they don't want more things. My son will get a CD and some other small things. I'm afraid I'm not exactly rolling in dough this year. I've never been exactly rolling in dough, but it seems like every year I'm able to do less, even though I generally get a raise every year. So WTF? Is it the economy? Prices of things too high for cost of living increases to keep up with? Who knows--all I know is I wish I was rich! I'd be generous as heck...I deserve it, dang it!
Hell, just give me half of Paris Hilton's money. I always wonder how money tends to end up in the hand of spoiled skanks (both male and female) rather than in the hands of people that would do some good with it. It's truly one of the mysteries of the Universe.
