I received this email. Read all the way to the bottom before going off on my ass.
143 DAYS . . .
Here is some measurable perspective to help folks decide where they want to go with their vote for the Presidency of the United States of America!
I personally like candidates to have a real history of service to our country that can be calculated and measured the good and the bad? We need a new direction that is for sure. We can do it? Kind of a silly slogan or cliche in my view. We have always done it and will continue to do it! We need leader ship that comes from calculated measurable experiences. Perhaps a leader with a real plan? Do your own research to look at both candidates an then make a prudent sound decision come election day for the next President and Vice President of the United States of America.
You couldn't get a job at McDonalds and become district manager after 143 days of experience.
You couldn't become chief of surgery after 143 days of experience of being a surgeon.
You couldn't get a job as a teacher and be the superintendent after 143 days of experience.
You couldn't join the military and become a colonel after a 143 days of experience.
You couldn't get a job as a reporter and become the nightly news anchor after 143 days of experience.
BUT....
'From the time Barack Obama was sworn in as a United States Senator, to the time he announced he was forming a Presidential exploratory committee, he logged 143 days of experience in the Senate. That's how many days the Senate was actually in session and working.. After 143 days of work experience, Obama believed he was ready to be Commander In Chief, Leader of the Free World .... 143 days.
We all have to start somewhere. The senate is a good start, but after 143 days, that's all it is - a start.
AND, strangely, a large sector of the American public is okay with this and campaigning for him. We wouldn't accept this in our own line of work, yet some are okay with this for the President of the United States of America? Come on folks, we are not voting for the next American Idol!
Now, here is what I replied:
Point taken, but at least he has two brain cells to rub together and seems rational. If something were happen to McCain, that doofus Sarah Palin would take over and the way she handles things scares the hell out of me. She's against a woman's right to choose, doesn't care about the environment, has wolves (including pups) hunted for a bounty, including aerial hunting, has officials fired simply because she doesn't like them, and beyond that, she strikes me as being just plain nuts.
McCain doesn't strike me as being a wacko, but he is a hawk and shows no signs of trying to wrap up the Iraq war or discontinue the spending of 10 billion dollars a month in Iraq. That money could be better used to improve conditions for poor families here.

BTW--Less than a week to vote for your favorite Netherworld Candidates, y'all! Go to the Side Bar. So far the Really Really Right Wing Reactionary Party is way ahead. I don't know if it's Nixon's charisma or what, but I sure hope it ain't a reflection of what's gonna happen in the real world!
The comforting thought is that the Sewer Party and the Cannibal Party remain voteless. I like the Handy Party and the Porn Party does have the charm of being blatantly honest, but personally I'm stumping for the Unspeakable Party because you just shouldn't settle for the lesser evil.

If you've had eight years working under a manager at McDonalds who believes it's o. k. to serve spoiled meat to customers and you have only occasionally even mildly disagreed with his policy, you're not qualified to become District Mgr. of anything, in my opinion, even if the cute register girl thinks you're cool.
I want the guy off the street who has a nose for spoiled meat and an understanding of food safety practices, myself.
i'd rather have him with his 143 days of experience that the creepy old man and the 'whack job'...
Palin was governor for only 20 months.
Obama was also in State government, graduated with honors from Colombia University (a very hard school to get into) and top honors from Harvard University.
McCain probably got into the Navy Academy because his dad and grandfather were admirals - and even then he was fifth from the BOTTOM of his class.
Palin has a 4 year degree in journalism.
There is no comparison in the education thing really.
Anyhow the "143 days" thing is not entirely accurate.
And by the way, with a degree from Harvard - with top honors, you could very easily be a district manager at McDonalds without ever cooking a single french fry. Hell you could probably become a senior executive without ever cooking a single french fry.
I stood on the side of the road with some other people and waved an Obama sign. It was kind of fun. I got some free water out of the deal.

It is much harder to improve the first as it is to change the latter...
